As a parent of 9 kids, I just have to say that this series is, hands down, one of my favorite series to read aloud to my children. As much as I love the Chronicles of Narnia as well, this series has given our family so many more opportunities for discussing spiritual truths with our children. We first read this series 8 years ago, and my children could not get enough. “Just one more chapter!” Now, with more of our younger children growing up to appreciate Terrestria, we are re-reading them, and enjoying it even more as we discuss how we can relate our spiritual lives to what Prince Josiah is dealing with. This book “The Sword the Ring and the Parchment” is the Gospel message so clearly laid out for little hearts to understand. There is no better message. As great as Pilgrim’s Progress is, this book is much easier and more easily understood for children in explaining the Gospel. You won’t regret buying the whole series!!!!

The Terrestria Chronicles series is the best set of books for young people I’ve ever read. When I read it aloud in the evenings to my children they BEG me not to stop. Exciting stories! Sound Doctrine! Spiritual truths throughout! Good for young people, adults and new converts as well. I can’t give a higher recommendation.

This set of books is definitely on the top of our list of favorites! We have seven children and read these aloud to ages 5 and over, and the older children have read them on their own. The messages in each book are wonderful, the writing is dynamic and the discussions that they generate are priceless. We highly suggest these books to friends that are searching for GREAT family reading. These are NOT just for boys – your girls will love these books as well. We have donated them to our church as well. We find them to be biblically solid and there is no worry about romance or inappropriate themes. Pastor Dunlop’s writing style is awesome – full of adventure, suspense, and action. He has a great way of making you think about scripture truths. You won’t be disappointed!

This first book introduces Josiah: how he is saved from Argamor and comes to live in the Castle of Faith. Each chapter is exciting and leaves you wanting to read further so you’ll know what happens next. As a young Christian, Josiah believes that, when he makes a simple mistake, he is no longer loved by King Emmanuel. But The King is patient and loving. He gently teaches Josiah to trust Him and follow His path (with the help of the dove of The Book). You can see in your minds eye, all the concepts as Mr. Dunlop describes them. The parchment, once rolled up, shooting out of one’s hand and going to the Golden City where King Emmanuel will personally see them. The Book, that when swung at his side, becomes a sword. And if Josiah fights in the name of his King, he wins the battles. But when pride sets in and Josiah takes credit, he begins to lose.
You will learn to love and trust your King, right alongside Josiah as you follow his adventures.
