Pa Cartwright,
angry at God because of huge financial
losses, takes Jed and Nathan with him to
visit the Diamondback Ranch in the Dakota
Territory. The Cartwrights work right
alongside the ranch hands to help in the
spring round-up, but soon learn that the
Diamondback is being hit by cattle rustlers,
who strike repeatedly in daring nighttime
raids. The rustlers’ purpose becomes clear
when the boys make an unusual find on the
backside of the Diamondback property.
